Bell Canyon is one of my go-to hikes when I want something fun and fairly quick. I live in Sandy, Utah just 6 miles from the Trailhead so getting to Bell Canyon is simple. Check out the upper falls below when they are flowing hard from rapidly melting snow in the spring.
The upper waterfalls are not the primary destination for most hikers. The lower waterfall is spectacular, especially during the spring when the snow is melting rapidly and the falls are roaring! Having said that, the upper falls give me a more challenging hike because of steepness and the reward is pretty nice! Check out the Bell Canyon Lower waterfall below.
There isn’t anything boring about the creek flowing down Bell Canyon. It isn’t too wide, but it tumbles through rocks and mini waterfalls and is a lot of fun to follow because the trail parallels it. Photo opportunities abound from the first bridge that crosses the creek to the small reservoir 4 miles and 4,000 vertical feet up the canyon.

Below is a video I took just hanging out above the creek as it was cascading through the rocks in Bell Canyon. My feet enjoyed the view!
By the way, I’ve hiked Bell Canyon in the winter as well and it has been awesome!

Bell Canyon is at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy, Utah. Out and back to the lower falls is around 4.5 miles and close to 1,400 vertical feet. Add another mole to get to the upper falls. Parts of the trail are pretty steep!
