Devil’s Kitchen is a relatively small area containing some really interesting rock formations. It is known for red hooddoos that look a bit like those in Bryce Canyon. Calling Devil’s Kitchen a mini Bryce is somewhat of a stretch to me, but I understand the comparison.

I took a quick trip to Devils Kitchen in September, 2025 after a very difficult hike up Mt. Nebo. The place was just 10-15 minutes farther south from the Nebo trailhead on the Nebo Loop Road so I decided to check it out.

There was a small parking area and a paved path to the Devils Kitchen viewing area so I wouldn’t really call this a hike, but I was glad to have seen it. At the end of a short walk down the paved path is a viewing area that overlooks the small canyon filled with hoodoos.

The weather was great and the sun really lit up the rock formation in Devils Kitchen.

To get to Devil’s Kitchen, follow the Nebo Loop Rd. from E 100 N in Payson for around 28 miles. About 4 miles before the parking area for Devil’s Kitchen is a Mt. Nebo viewing area that is worth a look. Or if going from the south, take 132 from Nephi to the Nebo Loop and head north for about 9 miles. Click HERE for a map.
